The Baptist Times this week headllines with 'Tide begins to turn' as research has shown that a previous decline in children attending has been stemmed with an up turn of 5000 under 12's in 2005/6. There has been a specific prayer initiave called 'On our knees' which 2000 churches took part in last year, and this has contributed to the rise, according to Nick Lear, the mission advisor for chidren with BUGB.
'On Our knees Again' is to be focussed on November 4th this year.
'Friends and Heroes' is a cartoon series about characters from the Bible. It has been well received around the world and now BBC2 plan to show it this Autumn. Designed for children of any faith or none, it covers characters from both the Old and New Testaments, and has particularly proved useful in schools work, for which extra material has been written.
Storykeepers video cartoons of the Bible stoies have been shown on mainstream television. They are now available with material for families who watch together, and for All Age services of worship. Churches can contribute to a scheme where videos are distributed in schools, and some churches have used the material for Holiday Clubs. All the information is available on www.storykeepers.com.
