Jane Holloway has sent out the latest GDOP news which collates various stories of GDOP from around the world. Linked with this, but from the post this morning, Jonothan Oloyede and Tim Dakin of CMS have announced a local partnership in UK linked to GDOP London and CMS Prayerlines network to encourgae prayer further.
Nottingham Arnold Corps of the Salvation Army have started a movement which has just been promoted at the national Salvation Army 'Roots' gathering with 3.5k people. 'Project Postcode' is a prayer movement for mission where local Christians pray for their neighbourhood. I think it could become a significant follow up to Hope08 as it grows and gets taken up by different churches. For now see the website:
Jane Holloway is promoting all of the Global day of Prayer initaitives in these islands through a new website. It also has links to the global network focussed on Pentecost this year. The largest event here is Millwall Stadium (already posted on EvangelismUK), but Jane reports on various other iniatives in other parts of the country and a week of prayer in prepartion before hand. I was pleased to be present at the start of the launch for the London Global day of Prayer at Westminster Chapel on Friday night when Jonothan Oloyede, a member of GfE, inspired the congregation to gather on Pentecost Sunday 2008 and make for 30,000 people praying at Millwall Stadium as part of the Global day of Prayer initiative and the Pentecost Festival in the capital. Ruth Thomas from Scripture Union is encouraging anyone with any schools connection to join in an initiative across several European countries 'Pray for Schools Day'. 20th November is the focus and parents, teachers and pupils are all encouraged to take part.
