The Archbishop of Canterbury, in the latest of the Westminster Lectures, has explored a key theme of the Churches Coordinating Group for Evangelisation: how people outside the church want to be spiritual without being religious. The research behind this concept (eg Heeles and Woodhead The Spiritual Revolution) has spawned many things including GfE book and website Church in A Spiritual Age. One of the GfE priorities has been to feed the spiritual interest of people outside church: Tearfund research suggests 40m people pray. A great joy of this job is the back stage work, one of which has been the early project liaison with CTBI, Radio 4 and Local BBC stations for Lent, called Pathways of Prayer. The Group for Evangelisation has been a key partner in the background work of preparing for a different kind of Lent course, described as 'landmark' by Bob Fyffe of Churches Together in Britrain and Ireland.
